Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Specialist – Internal Medicine to join our multidisciplinary medical team in Muscat. This pivotal role focuses on delivering comprehensive, evidence-based healthcare to adult patients, managing complex chronic conditions, and providing expert diagnostic evaluations. Core Responsibilities
Clinical Care & Patient Management
- Comprehensive Assessment: Conduct detailed patient histories, thorough physical examinations, and holistic health assessments for adult patients presenting with a wide spectrum of acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Diagnostic Expertise: Order, interpret, and correlate laboratory results, imaging studies, and specialized diagnostic tests to formulate accurate differential diagnoses.
- Treatment Planning: Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans encompassing pharmacotherapy, lifestyle modifications, and preventive care strategies.
- Chronic Disease Management: Provide longitudinal care for patients with complex comorbidities such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, respiratory disorders, and endocrine abnormalities.
- Acute Care Intervention: Manage acute medical emergencies, stabilize critically ill patients, and coordinate timely referrals to subspecialists or higher levels of care when indicated.
- Preventive Medicine: Deliver age-appropriate health screenings, immunizations, and counseling on risk factor reduction to promote wellness and early disease detection.
Clinical Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead multidisciplinary case conferences and participate in morbidity and mortality reviews to enhance clinical outcomes.
- Mentor junior medical staff, residents, and nursing personnel, fostering a culture of learning and patient safety.
- Collaborate closely with subspecialists (cardiology, nephrology, pulmonology, endocrinology, etc.) to ensure seamless, coordinated care pathways.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical protocols, pathways, and quality improvement initiatives aligned with international best practices.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain meticulous, timely, and legally compliant electronic medical records (EMR) documenting all clinical encounters, decisions, and communications.
- Adhere strictly to institutional policies, Ministry of Health regulations, and accreditation standards (e.g., JCI, CBAHI).
- Ensure accurate coding and billing documentation to support revenue cycle integrity.
Required Qualifications
- Medical Degree: MBBS or equivalent from a recognized university.
- Specialty Certification: Board certification or equivalent advanced qualification in Internal Medicine (e.g., Arab Board, MRCP, ABIM, FRACP).
- Licensure: Valid license to practice medicine in the Sultanate of Oman, or eligibility for immediate registration with the Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB).
- Clinical Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of post-certification experience as an Internal Medicine Specialist in a hospital or multispecialty clinic setting.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in English (written and spoken); Arabic proficiency is highly advantageous for patient communication.
- Technical Competence: Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems, clinical decision support tools, and telemedicine platforms.
Preferred Skills & Attributes
- Subspecialty fellowship training (e.g., Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Infectious Diseases, Geriatrics).
- Demonstrated experience in quality improvement projects, clinical research, or medical education.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a patient-centered approach and cultural sensitivity.
