Specialist – Urology Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Urology Specialist to join our medical team in Muscat, Oman. The successful candidate will provide expert diagnosis, treatment, and surgical management of urological conditions for patients of all ages.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient diagnosis and consultation, including detailed medical history review and physical examinations.
- Order, perform, and interpret advanced diagnostic tests such as cystoscopy, ultrasound, CT scans, MRI, urodynamic studies, and laboratory analyses.
- Diagnose and manage a wide range of urological disorders including kidney stones, prostate diseases (BPH, prostate cancer), urinary tract infections, bladder dysfunction, urethral strictures, and urological cancers.
- Perform minimally invasive surgical procedures such as ureteroscopy, laser lithotripsy, TURP, TURBT, laparoscopic and robotic-assisted urologic surgery.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative care, including pain management, catheter care, and follow-up monitoring.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including oncology, nephrology, radiology, and pathology for complex case management.
- Maintain accurate and detailed electronic medical records (EMR) and ensure compliance with Oman Ministry of Health regulations and hospital policies.
- Participate in continuing medical education (CME), clinical audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Educate patients and families on preventive urological health, lifestyle modifications, and treatment adherence.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Medical Degree (MBBS/MD) from a recognized university.
- Board Certification in Urology (Arab Board, American Board, UK FRCS, or equivalent).
- Valid medical license to practice in Oman (or eligibility for Oman Medical Specialty Board registration).
- Minimum 3-5 years of post-fellowship clinical experience as a Urology Specialist/Consultant.
- Proven expertise in endourology, laparoscopy, and reconstructive urology.
- Strong track record of surgical outcomes and patient safety.
- Excellent clinical decision-making and communication skills in English; Arabic proficiency is a plus.
- Commitment to evidence-based practice and adherence to international urology guidelines (EAU, AUA).
Preferred Skills & Competencies
- Experience with robotic-assisted surgery (Da Vinci).
- Sub-specialty training in urologic oncology, andrology, female urology, or pediatric urology.
- Research publications in peer-reviewed urology journals.
- Teaching and mentoring experience for residents and medical students.
- Familiarity with healthcare accreditation standards (JCI, CBAHI).
