Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Coordinator with strong knowledge and hands-on experience in Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) programs, including full compliance with EPA regulations. This role is critical in ensuring environmental compliance, minimizing emissions, and supporting sustainable operations across our facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and manage all Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) activities in accordance with EPA and local environmental regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections, monitoring, and reporting of fugitive emissions from equipment components including valves, pumps, connectors, and flanges.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive LDAR databases, tracking leak rates, repair schedules, and compliance documentation.
- Ensure full compliance with EPA Method 21, Clean Air Act requirements, and all applicable environmental standards.
- Coordinate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to schedule and execute timely repairs of identified leaks.
- Prepare and submit environmental compliance reports, audit documentation, and regulatory filings on schedule.
- Perform environmental risk assessments and recommend corrective actions to reduce emissions and environmental impact.
- Stay current on evolving environmental regulations, industry best practices, and emerging LDAR technologies.
- Lead and participate in internal and external environmental audits and inspections.
- Train and mentor site personnel on LDAR procedures, environmental protocols, and safety standards.
- Support the development and implementation of environmental management systems (EMS) aligned with ISO 14001 standards.
- Manage environmental permits, renewals, and regulatory correspondence with government agencies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven hands-on experience managing LDAR programs in industrial, petrochemical, oil and gas, or manufacturing environments.
- Strong working knowledge of EPA regulations, including Clean Air Act, NESHAP, and Method 21 requirements.
- Proficiency with LDAR monitoring equipment such as organic vapor analyzers (OVA) and flame ionization detectors (FID).
- Experience with LDAR data management software and compliance tracking systems.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified LDAR Technician or equivalent professional certification.
- Experience with ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
- Familiarity with Kuwait EPA regulations and regional environmental compliance frameworks.
- Experience in air quality modeling, emissions inventory development, or greenhouse gas reporting.
- Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) and HAZOP methodologies.
- Additional certifications such as Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) or similar credentials.
