About the Role
We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Income Auditor to join the finance team of a leading hotel in Muscat, Oman. This role is critical for safeguarding the financial integrity of the property by ensuring that all daily revenues are accurately captured, verified, and reported. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hotel revenue auditing, financial reconciliation, and hospitality accounting.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct a comprehensive daily income audit of all hotel revenue streams including rooms, food & beverage, spa, and ancillary services.
- Verify and reconcile daily financial transactions against system-generated reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Identify and investigate revenue discrepancies, posting errors, and unbilled charges, and resolve them promptly.
- Review and validate night audit reports, ensuring all postings are correct and supporting documentation is in place.
- Monitor cash handling procedures and ensure compliance with hotel financial policies and internal controls.
- Prepare and submit detailed daily revenue reports and audit summaries to the Financial Controller or Finance Manager.
- Collaborate with the front office, F&B outlets, and other operational departments to reconcile outlet sales and revenue.
- Ensure timely and accurate revenue recognition in accordance with accounting standards and hotel SOPs.
- Assist in month-end closing procedures, including balance sheet reconciliations and audit preparation.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date audit files and documentation for internal and external audit purposes.
- Support the finance team with accounts receivable and accounts payable tasks as needed.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional accounting qualification (e.g., CMA, ACCA) is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum 1–3 years of experience in income auditing or hotel finance, preferably within a 4- or 5-star hotel environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in hotel PMS (Property Management Systems) such as Opera, Fidelio, or similar platforms. Strong command of MS Excel and accounting software.
- Analytical Ability: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge: Solid understanding of hospitality accounting principles, revenue management, and internal control procedures.
- Soft Skills: Strong organizational skills, ability to work under pressure during peak periods, and effective communication skills for cross-departmental coordination.
- Language: Proficiency in English is required. Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
