Role Overview

An established organization in Muscat, Oman is seeking a dedicated Accountant to join its finance team. This role focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the company's financial control environment. The ideal candidate will contribute to day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close processes, and financial reporting activities within a dynamic corporate setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage general ledger entries, journal postings, and account reconciliations to ensure data integrity.


• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, including invoice verification, payment processing, and collections follow-up.


• Prepare and analyze financial statements, trial balances, and management reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.


• Support month-end close and year-end audit activities, including preparation of schedules and coordination with external auditors.


• Maintain fixed asset register, depreciation schedules, and intercompany reconciliations.


• Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, VAT filings, and statutory reporting requirements in Oman.


• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support strategic decision-making.


• Implement and improve internal controls and accounting policies to strengthen financial governance.


• Utilize ERP systems (such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics) for efficient financial data management.


• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting discrepancies and optimize financial processes.

Requirements

Hard Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; professional certification (CPA, ACCA, CMA) is a plus.


• Proven experience in general accounting, financial reporting, and statutory compliance within a corporate environment.


• Strong knowledge of IFRS / GAAP and Oman taxation laws.


• Proficiency in ERP software and advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros).


• Experience with bank reconciliations, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
