About the Role
Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Crystallography within the ACER CoE. This position is based in Morocco and offers an opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and innovation across Africa while working within a world-class academic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct advanced research in crystallography and related structural science disciplines
- Design, perform, and analyze X-ray diffraction and crystallographic experiments
- Develop and refine crystal structures using specialized software and methodologies
- Contribute to the research output of the ACER CoE through peer-reviewed publications
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams on materials science and chemistry projects
- Mentor and support graduate students and junior researchers in the laboratory
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and grant proposals as required
Qualifications
- PhD in Crystallography, Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, or a closely related field
- Proven experience in single-crystal and/or powder X-ray diffraction techniques
- Strong publication record in reputable scientific journals
- Proficiency in crystallographic software such as SHELX, Olex2, Mercury, or equivalent tools
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills in structural analysis
- Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative research environment
Skills
- Expertise in structural refinement and crystal structure determination
- Knowledge of synchrotron radiation techniques and data collection
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Experience with materials characterization and solid-state chemistry
- Familiarity with computational methods in crystallography and molecular modeling
- Commitment to research excellence and innovation in a university setting
