Role Overview
UNICEF is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Data Analyst to join our team in Algeria. The fundamental mission of UNICEF is to promote the rights of every child, everywhere, in everything the organization does — in programming, advocacy, and operations. As a Data Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting this mission by collecting, processing, and analyzing data to drive informed decision-making and improve outcomes for children across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data from multiple sources to support UNICEF program objectives.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualization tools for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
- Conduct statistical analyses and interpret trends to provide actionable insights for program development.
- Collaborate with program teams to identify data needs and ensure data quality and integrity across all initiatives.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Support the design and implementation of data collection methodologies and survey instruments.
- Ensure compliance with UNICEF's data protection and privacy policies in all data handling activities.
- Contribute to capacity building efforts by training staff on data tools and best practices.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Information Management, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of professional experience in data analysis, monitoring and evaluation, or a related area, preferably within the humanitarian or development sector.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, Python, R, SPSS, or Stata. Experience with data visualization platforms like Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools is highly desirable.
- Analytical Skills: Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical abilities with a keen attention to detail.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present complex data findings clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Languages: Fluency in both French and Arabic is required. Proficiency in English is a strong asset.
- Software: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience working with databases and data management systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with UN agencies, international NGOs, or other international organizations.
- Familiarity with UNICEF's monitoring and evaluation frameworks and child rights programming.
- Experience with GIS mapping tools and spatial data analysis.
- Knowledge of data protection protocols and ethical standards in research involving vulnerable populations.
Location
This position is based in Algeria. The incumbent will work closely with UNICEF's country office to support programs that advance children's rights and well-being throughout the nation.
