About This Role
We are hiring an experienced Reinforcement Chargehand / Foreman for a reputed construction project in Oman. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional to lead and oversee reinforcement activities on-site, ensuring quality, safety, and adherence to project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate reinforcement steel fixing activities on-site in accordance with approved drawings and bar-bending schedules.
- Lead, manage, and direct reinforcement teams to meet daily production targets and project milestones.
- Interpret structural and reinforcement drawings, ensuring accurate placement, spacing, and cover of steel reinforcement.
- Conduct regular inspections to verify compliance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
- Liaise with site engineers, project managers, and subcontractors to resolve technical issues and coordinate workflow.
- Ensure all reinforcement works follow approved method statements and quality control procedures.
- Monitor material usage, minimize wastage, and report any shortages or discrepancies to the project management team.
- Maintain accurate daily progress reports, as-built records, and documentation of reinforcement activities.
- Enforce strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols across all work areas.
- Train and mentor junior workers and chargehands on proper reinforcement techniques and best practices.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience as a Reinforcement Foreman, Chargehand, or similar supervisory role within the construction industry.
- Strong ability to read and interpret structural drawings, bar-bending schedules, and reinforcement details.
- In-depth knowledge of reinforcement steel types, grades, cutting, bending, fixing, and tying techniques.
- Familiarity with quality control procedures, inspection protocols, and HSE standards on construction sites.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to supervise large crews effectively.
- Good communication skills in English; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
- Physically fit and able to work in demanding outdoor construction environments.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working on large-scale infrastructure or building projects in the Gulf region.
- Knowledge of relevant international standards (BS, ACI, or equivalent) for reinforced concrete works.
- Ability to plan and schedule reinforcement activities in coordination with other trades.
- Basic proficiency in using measurement and surveying tools related to reinforcement placement.
