About the Role
Hotel Indigo®, a brand driven by curiosity and adventure, is seeking an Engineering Coordinator to join its construction team in Muscat, Oman. This role is pivotal in supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of engineering activities for hospitality construction projects, ensuring that every detail aligns with the brand's commitment to unique guest experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate engineering activities across multiple construction project phases, from design review through to handover.
- Liaise with architects, contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders to ensure project milestones are met on time and within budget.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents for accuracy and compliance with local building codes and IHG standards.
- Monitor site progress, prepare status reports, and flag any deviations from the project schedule or quality benchmarks.
- Assist in the procurement process by preparing material submittals, RFIs (Requests for Information), and change order documentation.
- Support the engineering manager in budget tracking, cost control, and resource allocation for ongoing construction works.
- Ensure all engineering works adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations applicable in Oman.
- Facilitate communication between on-site teams and the central engineering department to maintain alignment on project objectives.
- Maintain organized project documentation, including meeting minutes, inspection records, and as-built drawings.
- Participate in site inspections, quality audits, and commissioning activities to verify that installations meet design intent.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in construction coordination or engineering project support, preferably within the hospitality or hotel development sector.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, MEP systems, and building regulations in Oman.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project, and other project management tools.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; Arabic proficiency is an advantage.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and contract documents.
- Knowledge of IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) standards and brand guidelines is a plus.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working on hotel or mixed-use development projects in the GCC region.
- Familiarity with LEED certification or sustainable building practices.
- Proven track record of coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams on large-scale construction sites.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving project challenges.
