About the Job
We are seeking a Senior Commissioning Engineer specialized in Telecommunications to lead pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities for major projects in Qatar. This role requires deep technical expertise in telecom systems, network integration, and system acceptance testing. As a key member of the project team, you will ensure all telecommunications infrastructure meets stringent performance and safety standards before handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute pre-commissioning and commissioning procedures for telecom systems including fiber optics, microwave, and IP networks.
- Coordinate with design, construction, and operations teams to align commissioning schedules and resolve technical issues.
- Develop and review commissioning documentation such as test plans, procedures, and reports.
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technicians during site activities.
- Conduct system integration testing and network acceptance tests to verify compliance with project specifications.
- Manage punch lists and ensure timely closure of all commissioning-related items.
- Provide technical support during start-up and initial operation phases.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in commissioning of telecommunications systems, preferably in oil & gas, utilities, or large infrastructure projects.
- Hands-on experience with pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up methodologies.
- Strong knowledge of industry standards such as IEC, IEEE, and ITU-T.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Fluent in English; Arabic is a plus.
