About the Role
We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor in Information Systems and Software Engineering to join our esteemed College in Qatar. This faculty position plays a pivotal role in advancing the College's mission and vision through excellence in teaching, research, and service. The successful candidate will contribute to developing technically rigorous, academically sound, and occupationally aligned curricula that meet the evolving needs of the information technology sector in the Gulf region.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in Information Systems, Software Engineering, Database Systems, Systems Analysis and Design, Enterprise Architecture, and related emerging technologies.
- Conduct high-impact, peer-reviewed research in areas such as software development methodologies, information systems management, data analytics, cloud computing, cybersecurity, AI/ML applications in IS, or digital transformation.
- Publish research findings in top-tier international journals and conferences (e.g., MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, ICIS, ICSE, IEEE Transactions).
- Secure external research funding from national and international sources (e.g., QNRF, GSRA, EU Horizon, NSF).
- Supervise and mentor Master's theses and PhD dissertations in Information Systems and Software Engineering.
- Participate in curriculum development, program accreditation (e.g., ABET, AACSB), and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Engage in academic advising, student mentoring, and career guidance for IT and IS students.
- Collaborate with industry partners in Qatar's technology ecosystem (e.g., Qatar Science & Technology Park, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, local enterprises) for applied research, internships, and capstone projects.
- Serve on departmental, college, and university committees; contribute to shared governance.
- Participate in community outreach, professional societies (e.g., AIS, IEEE Computer Society, ACM), and academic conferences.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field from an internationally recognized university.
- Demonstrated record of scholarly publications in reputable, peer-reviewed IS/SE journals and conferences commensurate with rank.
- Proven university-level teaching experience with strong student evaluations; ability to teach core and elective courses in English.
- For Associate Professor and Professor ranks: established research agenda, successful grant acquisition, and doctoral supervision experience.
- Expertise in modern software development practices (Agile, DevOps, CI/CD), programming languages (Java, Python, C#, JavaScript), database technologies (SQL, NoSQL), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Strong commitment to academic integrity, diversity, and inclusive excellence in higher education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry experience in software engineering, IT consulting, systems architecture, or technology management.
- Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, CISSP, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, TOGAF, CSM).
- Experience with ABET accreditation processes and outcome-based education models.
- Familiarity with the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the country's digital transformation agenda.
- Arabic language proficiency is a plus but not required; English is the primary language of instruction.
- Track record of interdisciplinary collaboration across Computer Science, Business, Engineering, and Data Science domains.
