About the Role
As a Demi Chef de Partie (also known as a Station Cook or Junior Chef), you will play a critical role in the daily operations of the hot kitchen. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food correctly.
- Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables to ensure they are ready for culinary use.
- Operate and maintain cooking equipment such as grills, ovens, and fryers safely and efficiently.
- Monitor food quality and freshness, adhering strictly to health and safety regulations.
- Assist the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef in menu planning and recipe development.
- Ensure the kitchen station is clean, organized, and fully stocked throughout the shift.
- Follow standardized recipes to maintain consistency in flavor and portion sizes.
- Manage food waste and contribute to sustainable kitchen practices.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Commis Chef or similar role in a busy kitchen environment.
- Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, knife skills, and food safety standards.
- Ability to work under pressure during peak hours while maintaining high standards.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and handle kitchen equipment.
