Who We're Looking For
You don't just check boxes — you set the standard. When a specification says "within tolerance," you ask "which tolerance and why?" You're the Materials Inspector who stands between a project's promise and its reality, knowing that a single overlooked deviation can cascade into structural risk, schedule delays, and budget overruns. At Parsons, we don't need someone to witness quality. We need someone to enforce it with technical authority and professional conviction.
What You'll Own
- Material verification and acceptance: Inspect, test, and approve all incoming construction materials — concrete, steel, asphalt, aggregates, piping, and specialized composites — against project specifications, ASTM/AASHTO standards, and Qatari construction codes.
- On-site quality surveillance: Perform real-time inspection during placement, fabrication, and installation. Document non-conformances with photographic evidence, dimensional data, and traceable references.
- Non-conformance management: Initiate, track, and close NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) in coordination with QA/QC leads, site engineers, and subcontractors. Ensure root cause analysis and corrective actions prevent recurrence.
- Laboratory coordination: Liaise with accredited testing labs for sample submission, witness testing, and result validation. Maintain chain-of-custody integrity for all test specimens.
- Documentation and reporting: Produce daily inspection reports, material receiving logs, test result summaries, and monthly quality trend analyses for project leadership and client review.
- Subcontractor compliance: Audit subcontractor material submittals, method statements, and inspection test plans (ITPs) for conformance before work commences.
What You Bring
- Technical foundation: Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, Construction Technology, or equivalent. Minimum 5 years as a Materials Inspector on heavy civil, infrastructure, or commercial projects in the GCC.
- Code fluency: Deep working knowledge of QCS (Qatar Construction Specifications), ASTM, AASHTO, BS, and ACI standards. Ability to interpret and apply them without ambiguity.
- Certification credibility: Active certification from recognized bodies — ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I, NICET, or equivalent. CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) a distinct advantage.
- Digital proficiency: Comfortable with quality management platforms (Procore, Aconex, Viewpoint, or similar), mobile inspection apps, and advanced Excel for trend analysis.
- Communication authority: Can articulate a technical rejection to a senior project manager or subcontractor superintendent with equal clarity and firmness. Fluent in English; Arabic a strong plus.
- Site resilience: Proven ability to operate in extreme heat, remote locations, and high-pressure milestone-driven environments without compromising inspection rigor.
What Sets This Role Apart
This isn't a clipboard role. You'll be embedded in Parsons' flagship Qatar programs — projects that define the nation's infrastructure trajectory. You'll work alongside engineers who respect your authority because they know your findings protect their designs. You'll have direct access to QA/QC leadership, not filtered through layers of supervision. And you'll be measured not by how many reports you file, but by how many silent failures you prevent before they become loud problems. If your professional identity is built on the phrase "that's not to spec," this is where that standard finds its home.
