We are seeking a seasoned Managing Quantity Surveyor to join a leading construction operation in Qatar. This role is central to maximizing project margins and delivering value throughout the building process by driving proactive procurement, rigorous cost management, and transparent reporting. As the senior quantity surveying professional, you will oversee financial controls from tender through final account, ensuring every project phase aligns with strategic budget targets and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all quantity surveying activities across multiple construction projects, from initial feasibility to final account settlement
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that secure best-value materials and subcontractor services
- Prepare and manage detailed cost plans, budgets, cash flow forecasts, and monthly financial reports
- Conduct thorough tendering and contract administration, including bid evaluation and negotiation
- Monitor project costs against budgets, identify variances early, and recommend corrective actions to protect margin
- Manage valuation of work in progress, interim payment applications, and final account agreements
- Mentor and supervise junior quantity surveyors and cost engineers, fostering a culture of accuracy and accountability
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related construction discipline
- Minimum 10 years of progressive quantity surveying experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial capacity
- Proven track record in large-scale building or infrastructure projects within the Gulf region, preferably Qatar
- Strong command of cost management software and advanced Excel skills
- In-depth knowledge of FIDIC contracts and local procurement regulations
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills
- Professional certification (e.g., MRICS, PQS) is highly desirable
